I honestly cannot give enough credit to the Diploma of Digital & Interactive Games; I had started the year and a half long diploma mid 2016.
I don’t believe I’d have the technical advantage if it wasn’t for 3DS Max & Unity3D, as I found many parallels between navigating the programs.
for my 3D Modelling/animation assessment I designed an anime inspired character I named Helix.
Helix was inspired by anime characters like Hatsune Miku & Sailor Moon, particularly the hair which in falling motion forms a double helix shape, hence her name.
The idea of Helix was her ponytails, the blades at the end of them are her primary melee weapon, limbs and pelvis also contained light armour which was mostly to deflect her own blades rather than enemy attacks.
My course finale was a mobile phone game prototype: K-Wing.
K-Wing was a StarFox/Lylat Wars inspired “3D Rail” shooter game, complete with power ups, animated characters, health & ammo bars, start & pause menus. Our game includes an interactive tutorial, I found a voice actress on Fiverr to do a voice-over for my tutorial level. I created my fighter, drone UFO’s, power ups and a simple boss character (with Animation) in 3DS Max andbuilt my levels in Unity 3D.
I have used 3DS Max in numerous other projects since.
