This Person Is Your FRIEND - He Fights For ORDER
My first poster for this project; inspired by “This man is your FRIEND (Russian) He fights for FREEDOM” published by the US Government Printing Office; 1942 with the purpose of encouraging support of American allies. I’ve seen plenty of mock-ups of the original, both factual & satirical, including the Galactic Empire (Star Wars) & the New Californi
McAlpingrad Footsoldier - Enlist Today
While I still had my footsoldier in character, I decided to shoot an enlistment poster as an extension of my uber-militarization of the MAD empire. As you can see there is a very different vibe from the first poster, some failed to notice that it’s in fact the same individual.
Corporate Espionage - Is Treason - Maximum Penalty: Firing Squad - Corporate Espionage Act '21
[AIPP SILVER AWARD]
The “Corporate Espionage” idea originally stemmed from a Fallout: New Vegas poster, I simply wanted to expand on it by 1) declaring it not just a crime but treason (I mean why not, it’s my fictitious world) & 2) I wanted to use the firing squad for one of my pieces for one crime or an
Report all gas leaks - Keep bright sparks from gossip
I wanted to create a “Loose Lips Might Sink Ships” equivalent but create my own euphemism for it; a gas leak. I originally wanted sparks added to the image but the image was cluttered as it was, the gas leak was a spray of Hello Kitty deodorant, which didn’t work at first so I had to panel beat it until it did. The bright green background wasn
SALUTE - Our MAD Angels
The first image from the pin-up shoot; I’ve boasted my army but what of my air force? McAlpingrad’s “Angels”. Prior to the pin-up shoot while planning this poster (among others) I used 3DS Max to create a fleet of Boeing B-52 bombers. I initially intended to only use the silhouette of the bombers but once the B-52 was underway I just had to go into detail. The UVW map for t
WE CAN DO IT! - (Without YOU)
Now I know this one’s familiar; my rendition of the popular “Rosie The Riveter”, Also more commonly known as the “We Can Do It!” poster, courtesy of Westinghouse Electric in 1945 to boost female worker morale, although not seen much during WWII the Rosie the Riveter got a second life in the ‘80’s onwards as the poster girl for feminism. Instead of rolling up her slee
Safety ON - When not in combat - Protect yourself & those you love
For this project I wanted to do a poster for firearm safety, after sitting on the idea for a bit I worked out “Safety on when not in combat” could work as a double entendre for sexual health as well as gun safety, so I went with it & created a triple gradient for the background & made pink the dominant colour. The 3D writing came to
Union is Separatism - There is no Union, but Union of the State
Guess I'll start by saying that by being pro-union & making anti-union propaganda, I may have had to lay the satirical element on a bit thick, I mean to the point of being not just outright lies, but so blatantly obvious and insulting that only
Our major artistic component for our advanced diploma was our own exhibition piece, I decided I wanted to create a heap of propaganda posters for a fictional dystopian society, playing of course on real world dictatorships and the like, for this I wanted to do a 1950’s pinup shoot.
Years ago I created my own language, which I drew up again to use as a foreign language for my piece, all in 3DS Max. Lots of bare essentials for my exhibition pieces such as my language & symbols would have been a lot easier if I had been familiar with Illustrator. My pieces merged photography, 3D modelling and photoshop to create my pin-up, pop art designs which vary in tone.
I definitely did wh
